God’s Provision, our last harvest for the year
I can hardly believe that our gardening season is coming to a close. This was today’s harvest from our garden. If you can believe it, this was only half of what we harvested today. This season taught us a lot about providing for ourselves, our families, and our neighbors around us. We are planning on freezing the potatoes for french fries, hash browns, and scalloped potatoes. The tomatoes, well pasta sauce of course, and salsa for game day chips. The onions and squash will keep just fine in a cool spot in the garage. Just look at the gorgeous color of the sweet peppers, they are so pricey at the market, and here I have an abundance to share. I think of the wisdom and knowledge God gave to us to produce this bounty, and understand my responsibility to share it with those around me. I hope these pictures inspire you to try gardening next year. ~ Ria
We are still getting cucumbers, on the left, that are the best tasting cucumbers I have had in a long time.
The onions were a bargain. I purchased seed onions for $4.99 for a bag of 100, and have been harvesting them all season. Some were early, nice green onions for salads and baked potatoes.
Potatoes rock. I harvested some of the Yukon golds early which were about the size of prunes. They were so buttery and yummy, and very fancy on your dinner plate I may add. I even grew some purple, yes purple potatoes, that were so fun to serve to my family. Imagine purple mashed potatoes, and they were delicious!
Look at the amazing colors these veggies are showing off, just like a beautiful flower arrangement for a fabulous event!
